For years I've been wanting to try shooting medium For years I've been wanting to try shooting medium format and I now have my results back! Overall I am satisfied with my results with this first roll of Fujifilm Provia 100F, which is a slide film. So the processed film is positive colours allowing you to see the photo clearly when you hold it up to the light. A few things I've learned so far about medium format: 1. A tripod is almost always required, at least for this Bronica ETRS with a waist level finder. Also very important when shooting at slow shutter speeds, a shutter release cable. 2. Medium format frames are much larger than 35mm film, so there's a lot more detail and area to be covered in dust. I edited out most of those artifacts in photoshop. 3. The sound of the mirror going 'cah-chunk' when the shutter is released is addictive. I've always loved the mechanical sounds of analog cameras, this one is just sublime! 4. Like everything else with this camera, loading the film takes practice. Although, it's not really that much more complicated than loading 35mm. I'm looking forward to using it more as the weather and pandemic improves. Street and architecture is fine with this 75mm F2.8 lens, but I do want to get more faces in front of the lens. I really want to take advantage of the depth of field that is possible with this format and I find portraiture to be the most interesting subject to shoot with a shallow depth of field. Now I just need my son to be infinitely patient with me as I fiddle around with the light meter, tripod and release cable! If you are interested in modeling for me, hit me up in the DMs!
Hat tip to my pal @bruyea for hooking me up with this sweet rig! You were right about the beautiful negatives and joy of using the ETRS.
